Bilborough Town 6 - 0 Ruddington Village

Stewart (3) Law (55) Clements (67) Taylor (75, 87) Hayes (81)

Bilborough made it four straight wins on Wednesday with a comprehensive 6-0 victory over 2015 champions, Ruddington Village. Town got off to the perfect start when Stewart latched onto a parried shot from Law and slotted home to put them 1-0 up within five minutes. More of the same followed as Bilborough played some of the best football they’ve played all season with Clements and Stewart causing havoc down the left-hand side and Stewart almost returned the favour for Law when he clipped a ball to the back post, only for Law to hit his volley straight at the ‘keeper. The strength of Town’s possession and ball retention was shown as Ruddington failed to register an effort on goal in the first half, with the Town backline often integral parts in the beginning of Bilborough’s attacks. Despite having a majority of the possession, Town were frustrated by missed chances in the first half but the intensity remained as both flanks exploited their opposite numbers with numerous crosses flashing across the six-yard box. HT 1-0 More of the same followed in the 2nd half but, this time, Town found their scoring boots. They had to wait ten minutes for their 2nd goal when the impressive Law somehow weaved his way through a crowd of four players on the edge of the Ruddington box and slotted away into the bottom corner. Law then turned provider when he laid his corner to Clements 25 yards out, who then proceeded to rocket it into the corner of the goal to grab his first for Bilborough and Town’s third of the night. Ruddington got a glimpse at goal shortly after when a misplaced back-pass from Richardson allowed Newbold to bear down on goal but, under pressure from Hayes, he could only watch as his shot trickled wide of the post to keep Town’s clean sheet intact. As a 2nd half introduction for Cross, Taylor impressed out wide and was soon moved up top by manager, Steve Lee. This paid dividends two minutes later when another mazy run from Law allowed him to square it to Taylor who had a simple tap-in to put the game firmly out of Ruddington’s reach. Town weren’t finished, and another corner from Law found the head of Hayes who nodded the ball home to make it five and Law got his fifth assist of the game when he fed Taylor through, who made no mistake to grab his 2nd goal and to complete the home side’s rout. FT 6-0
